The Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation & Creativity will announce the winners of the Melrose Contest to the public at 11 a.m.

UNLEASH YOUR CREATIVITY AT THE MELROSE CENTER

  • Sim Lab: Experience the world of flight, driving and construction with immersive 3D simulators.
  • Photo Studio: Stop by to have your photo taken at our live photo booth and learn about the hands-on classes and equipment available.
  • Video Studio: Transport to the exciting worlds of Star Wars and Minecraft and embark on an amazing adventure! Be a part of a fantasy Super Bowl Media Day!
  • Audio Studio: Step up to the mic and hear your voice transform using various sound effects and audio processing plug-ins.
  • Editing Bay A: Close your eyes and immerse yourself in the “Psychoacoustics of Sound” listening to Binaural (3D sound) audio files.
  • Editing Bay B: Experience a more natural way to interact with your computer with the RealSense 3D camera.
  • Game Play: Using Kinect motion controls, school Darth Vader and the Emperor in Star Wars: Galactic Dance Off!
  • Sewing Booth: It’s time to create!  Did you get a sewing machine as a gift, have one sitting unused in your closet? Learn about our classes and camps on garment making, home décor and accessories.
  • Virtual Reality Booth: Immerse yourself in a virtual world with the help of an Oculus Rift. Come and play a library maze game made by the creative team at the Melrose Center!
  • Kids Corner: Join staff members from the Children’s Department for a fun time filled with hands-on crafts and maker-type activities.

Exploding Bacon Robotics, is a 4-H club that among other things, participates in FIRST. Our students learn engineering, computer programming, and hands-on machinery skills, as well as the problem solving, strategic thinking, time management, public speaking, teamwork and leadership skills essential in any career. The goal is to inspire and support these youth members to continue on to higher education in trade schools and STEM programs in college.

Emil Buehler Planetarium
The Buehler Planetarium at Seminole State College is your ticket to the Universe by offering a fully immersive experience that is out-of-this-world. Guests will get a chance to steer a joystick around the cosmos and explore worlds in high resolution like Pluto utilizing the powerful simulation software the planetarium offers during its shows.

Indienomicon is a community based organization with a mission to bring awareness to the excitement, culture and incredible talent of the independent game developers of Central Florida. Talon Simulations
Talon Simulations is a small business specializing in hardware/software integration of virtual reality vehicle simulators and offers the Atomic A3 full motion simulator. The A3 is adjustable for different size guests, adaptable for different applications including race cars, roller coasters, and fighter jets, and affordable, making these experiences more accessible to greater audiences.

The Pink Team
Following a sports model, FIRST® Tech Challenge teams design, build, program, and operate robots of their own design to play a floor game in an alliance format. Guided by adult Coaches and Mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and sharing ideas. Participants have access to tens of millions of dollars in college scholarships.

The goal of Wearables Workshop is to teach Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math skills through wearable technology and fashion technology focused kits, tutorials and educational content.

WordPress Orlando

Yuri’s Night
Yuri’s Night is a global celebration of humanity’s past, present, and future in space. Yuri’s Night parties and events are held around the world every April in commemoration of Yuri Gagarin becoming the first human to venture into space on April 12, 1961, and the inaugural launch of the first Space Shuttle on April 12, 1981.
