The Orlando Public Library, Melrose Center announced the winning films of the 2019 Melrose Film Festival that took place at the Orlando Public Library on Saturday, September 14, 2019.

This year the Melrose Film Festival attracted almost 2,000 film submissions. Attendees of the film festival screened documentaries, animated films and music videos submitted from around the world. Event exhibitors included the Orlando chapter of Women in Film & Television, Production Hub and Enzian Theater. The film festival also featured question and answer sessions with filmmakers and guest speakers. Thank you to all who submitted films and attended the festival. Congratulations to the winners!

The Melrose Film Festival seeks to highlight the work of imaginative filmmakers across the globe. Interested in submitting your short film, animation or music video to win cash prizes?

Submissions will be accepted April 14 – June 14 at filmfreeway.com/melrosefilmfestival.

The festival will be held in September in the Melrose Center, featuring screenings of selected films, industry panels and Q&A discussions.

The 2019 Melrose Creative Expo marks the fifth anniversary of the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity.  Join us on Saturday, February 16 from 1:00 p.m. until 4 p.m. for an afternoon of family-friendly activities throughout the Melrose Center, including virtual reality and video green screen demonstrations, live audio recording sessions, short film screenings, theatre performances, photo studio portraits and vehicle simulator experiences.  Visit with a host of exhibitors from throughout the tech and creative communities, and help us celebrate the best audio, video, photo and digital design projects created during the past year at the Melrose Awards presentation.

The Melrose Center is also about collaboration and community.  Staff hold monthly meetups pertaining to audio, video, photo, design, theatre and makerspace activities, while local groups also use the space as a venue for meetups on topics ranging from robotics and podcasting to web development and game design.  Events such as Technoween, the Melrose Film Festival, Melrose in the Mix: Live Recording Sessions, Open Mic: The Voice of Melrose, and Script Orlando, further define the Center as a venue for emerging and established performers as well as inspirational and informative speakers from across Central Florida.

The Melrose Creative Expo provides the perfect opportunity to explore all the amazing resources the Melrose Center has to offer.  Come see for yourself, help us celebrate our first five years, and learn how you can be a part of the next five!
