Learn to knit at your Library.

This fall we are expanding our popular fiber arts program to include introductory knitting courses. Knit It classes are designed to introduce teenagers and adults to knitting. Each hands-on class covers key concepts and techniques, including tools, materials and stitches. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor students will create projects including coasters, spa cloths, scarves and hats.

No experience needed. Ages 13+.

CLASSES

All classes provide hands-on instruction for essential knitting techniques. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor students will create small take home projects.

Knit It Level 1: The Knit Stitch
Start knitting today! Create a unique bookmark in your choice of color. Learn casting on, the knit stitch and binding off. No experience necessary.
Knit It Level 2: Increases and Decreases
Increase your knitting skills. Use increases and decreases to add a delicate edge to your work. Learn yarn overs, the knit two together stitch and pattern reading to create work on the bias.
Knit It Level 3: The Purl Stitch
Purl it all together. Create flat fabrics with the stockinette stitch. Learn the purl stitch and working sides to create this classic fabric.
Knit It Level 4: The Rib Stitch
Can you take a ribbing? Create a ribbed scarf in your favorite colors. Learn the rib stitch to create two by two ribbing and how to combine multiple balls of yarn.

Let us help! Stuck on a project or skill you learned in class? Let our experienced instructors answer your questions.
Knit It: Knit Along (Coming in December 2016)
Get out of your knitting rut with a new project or skill. Join us for our monthly knit along. We’ll pick the project, you bring your creativity and the supplies.

Want to get together with other knitters in a fun, casual atmosphere? Join us for knitting clubs and meetups at your library.

A Knack for Knitting | Winter Garden Branch Library
Whether you are a seasoned knitter, just getting started, or wanting to learn, join us for an hour of knitting fun. Bring something you are working on, something you are stuck on, or needles and yarn to learn the relaxing art of knitting. Ages 18 and up. Registration requested.
Knitting and Crochet Nook | South Creek Branch Library
Join us for our weekly knitting club. All ages and levels are welcome. Please bring your own yarn and needles.
