There has been an exciting development recently in bringing robot technology closer to our daily lives. The Florida legislature has passed a bill to provide for “operation of autonomous motor vehicles on public roads.” People with an interest in technology have been watching the development of the Google Robot Car and recent tests on roads and highways in Nevada have been very promising. Several major car companies also say that they are currently developing this technology for their vehicles. Technology specialists believe that robotic technology will be available for our vehicles in the next 3-5 years. When DLM-TIC opens, we won’t promise to have a full-scale robot car, but we hope to bring fun and learning with scaled model robotics.
